Tour per i turisti
È una di quelle strane verità, tendiamo a non utilizzare i servizi turistici nella nostra città natale. Quindi le seguenti idee e link sono stati raccolti dai nostri ospiti e dalle loro esperienze positive.
TICKETS
Many of our guests have used this online service for tickets:
https://www.tiqets.com/en/
It does charge a markup on the face value of the tickets. I personally haven't used them. But have a look. TrustPilot gives them 4.5 on 31000 reviews. There is an App that is free to use and basically collects together all the different ticket options remaining.
GET THERE EARLY

If you hate getting up early on holiday ... so does everyone else. Which means if you get to the popular sights like the Colosseum, Vatican, Pantheon, Forum etc .... really early (before 10am) Guess What ... no queues. GOOD LUCK!
Thanks to Roger for the tip
LUNCH AT THE BEACH ANYONE?
Sometimes the heat of the city can become too much. But the ancient Romans had the solution ... build your city 20 minutes from the beach!
There are trains to Ostia which will provide a few 1970's flashbacks of bars, plastic tables and rows of umbrellas.
For a slightly more laid back dayout I suggest hiring a car and booking lunch at La Scialuppa in Fregene. You literally eat a great fish lunch with the sand between your toes.
Thanks to Claudia for the idea :-)
LUNCH IN THE HILLS

Sometimes the heat of the city can become too much. But the ancient Romans had the solution ... build your city 20 minutes from the hills!
The Pope disappears to Castel Gandolfo for the summer so you can easily justify a train ride or hire car out to the Roman Castelli.
Volcanic Lakes, quaint villages to explore and plenty of restaurants to justify the hassle to get out there.
Give it a google :-)
GET A GUIDE

One of our guest groups got in touch with this guy.
Paolo Gigliozzi
paolo.gigliozzi@fastwebnet.it
he speaks French and English as well as Italian.
He is a fully signed up official guide for the Lazio and Rome region.
We have no affiliation with him (I haven't even met him) but our guests were super happy with his services. So if you are looking for some quality info, here's his email.
Thanks to Kristen for the contact
BOOK AHEAD

So, you finally arrived in the Eternal City and discovered that there are also quite a few Eternal Queues to deal with. The big five: Vatican Museums, Colosseum, Roman Forum, St Peter's Basilica and now the Pantheon all require tickets and sometimes are "sold out".
There are loads of places to get tickets online - many of our guests use the the Tiquets website above.
Thanks for Julie for the link
